Founded in 1853, Goyard is the oldest leather goods purveyor still in business today (beating Louis Vuitton by just one year). Priding itself on its consistency, Goyard eschews ever-changing trends. Rather than releasing new bags every season, it continues to offer (and update) the styles it has produced since it opened.
In 2014, Goyard created the Artois Tote. In the same family as the house’s emblematic Saint Louis (aptly named because the Comte d’Artois was the younger brother of King Louis IX), they are both tote bags that are crafted of Goyardine coated canvas; however, the Goyard Artois features some key differences:
Its bottom corners are reinforced with leather, allowing it to keep its structure and shape when it stands empty and providing it with extra protection from wear.
It has longer straps, so that it can be worn comfortably over the shoulder in every size.
It zips closed, ensuring that all of its contents are secure.
It features an interior pocket instead of a detachable pochette for extra storage and organization.
Though it was originally only offered in the PM size, the Goyard Artois has since been made available in both the MM (in 2017) and GM Weekend (in 2018). Each size is available in 11 colors (Black, Black & Tan, Navy Blue, Sky Blue, Grey, White, Yellow, Orange, Red, Burgundy, and Green).
